CEBU, Philippines - Reportedly because of too much depression caused by his sickness, a 63-year-old farmer hanged himself inside his house in barangay Tubiganmanok in Asturias town.
The victim’s wife Rosalia and Son Jamer found Gregorio Monterde hanging lifeless from a rope attached to the ceiling last Friday afternoon.
They later told policemen that Monterde had been so depressed because he believed that his sickness had rendered him useless. The real nature of the sickness, however, was not divulged.
Police tried to convince the victim’s family to have his body autopsied but they reportedly declined, saying they were convinced that Monterde committed suicide and no foul play was involved in his death. — Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/JMO
