Seven people charged for mauling neighbor to death

CEBU, Philippines -Six men and a woman were charged of homicide yesterday before the Regional Trial Court for allegedly mauling to death their neighbor last August 2008.

The homicide case filed against Winefredo Baga, Ludigario Baga, Renato Baga, Bolter Mari, Abraham Domingo, Ernesto Estela, and Richel Robles is now elevated to the RTC after the respondents failed to submit their counter-affidavit yesterday.

The seven of them reportedly mauled Winston Alivio, killing him in the process after one bashed the head of the victim with a stone on August 31, last year.

Alivio’s sister Rodeline and his wife Liza Murillo filed the charges against the seven last August shortly after Alivio expired at the hospital.

According to Murillo, she saw the seven mauled her husband outside of their house last August 31 at 4:45 a.m.

She said that her husband was first attacked by Winefredo. After that, she saw Renato bash the head of her husband with a stone; then Domingo and Mari hit Alivio again on the head.

Ludigario, she said, also attacked the victim even when Alivio was already slumped on the ground. — Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
