Banawa fire razes house, 'bodega'

-

CEBU, Philippines -A fire gutted a house made of light materials and partially damaged an old warehouse in Sacred Heart Village, sitio Banawa, barangay Guadalupe at past 5 p.m. yesterday.

The house was owned by one Helirio Orong, Jr. while no data is available yet as to the owner of the warehouse.

SPO1 Nilo Daculan, investigator from the Cebu City fire department, said that based on their initial investigation Orong’s house had no electricity and that nobody was inside the house when the fire occurred.

The fire under first alarm was controlled after three minutes and was totally put out at past 6 p.m.

Daculan said that he could not yet give an estimate of the initial damages as they will still investigate today the allegation of Councilor Raul Alcoseba, who owns nearby South International School, that the airconditioning units of the said school were also damaged by the fire.

“Investigation is ongoing. We still have to determine the cause and the cost of damages to property,” Daculan said.
