CEBU, Philippines – A farmer was found dead after allegedly committing suicide the other day in sitio Laguna, barangay Lusaran, Cebu City.
Jose Puebla, 42, a native of Liloan town, was found dead and already in the state of rigor mortis after he hung himself using nylon rope tied to a cacao tree.
A neighbor of the fatality, Roel Cobrado, revealed that he saw Puebla already dead when he allegedly passed by the area around 4:30 p.m. He immediately informed the family of the fatality as well as the barangay officials of what he had found.
It was the barangay officials who asked for police assistance.
Investigation revealed that prior to the incident, Puebla was observed behaving unusually as if he was upset over a deep problem. He would not share his problem with his family.
Crime scene investigators found no external injuries on the fatality’s body except for the strangulation mark on his neck. It was also established that there were no signs of struggle that would indicate foul play.
The body was then brought to Cebu Rolling Hills Memorial Garden for post mortem examination. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
