-

CEBU, Philippines - The family of a woman who was working in Manila as a sewer yesterday filed a civil charge against Suplicio Lines Inc. before the Regional Trial Court in connection with the sinking of one of its passenger vessels, MV Princess of the Stars, off Romblon province last June 21.

The latest suit, filed by the Abelgas family of Singson Compound in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, brought the number of civil cases filed against SLI to 42.

In their complaint, brothers Santos, Ronelio, Celso, and Agustines Abelgas are asking the shipping company an amount of P2.076 million equivalent to the salary of their sister, Chona Singson, who worked as sewer in Manila.

The complainants also demanded for moral and exemplary damages of P800,000 and 20 percent in attorney’s fees. —Jasmin R. Uy/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
