4 presidential hopefuls want Ace for senator

CEBU, Philippines – Tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano admitted yesterday that at least four presidential bets are trying to persuade him to run under their slate as senator in the national elections next year.

Durano, who was then a three-term congressman of Cebu’s 5th district, however, said that as of now he is not yet thinking of running again for any elective post.

As one of the members of the National People’s Coalition, his name was among included in Lakas Party’s long list of possible senatorial bets.

Durano admitted that if ever he decides to run for Senate, he must see to it that he will be running under a good presidential candidate.

He revealed that senators Chiz Escudero, Loren Legarda, Mar Roxas and Manuel Villar are prodding him to run for senator.

“As of now, I am not seriously thinking of running for Senate. It’s hard to decide,” said Durano, who graced yesterday’s opening of One Visayas fair at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
