CEBU, Philippines - Personnel from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas garnered national awards for helping implement the government’s poverty alleviation programs.
During the second Gawad KALAHI-CIDSS Awarding Ceremony held recently in Quezon City, DSWD-7 personnel and their local partners received recognition for participating in the fight against poverty.
Their contribution to the implementation of the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) is the highlight of the project’s 2008 yearend assessment.
Receiving the Special Leadership Award for Local Chief Executives was Mayor Claudio Bonior of San Miguel, Bohol.
DSWD staff Cherry Merin was awarded best roving bookkeeper, Ronilo Gauma as Best Deputy Area Coordinator and Antonio Dolaota as Outstanding Regional Finance Focal Person.
Pilar, Bohol Mayor Wilson Pajo received the “Salamat Po” award for his town’s strong support to the project.
Central Visayas also garnered two special awards for Best in Finance and for conducting the Sustainability Evaluation for Completed Subprojects.
The KALAHI-CIDSS is a community-driven development approach designed to address poverty.
