Robbers tie Internet café attendant, flee with P30T

-

CEBU, Philippines - Five unidentified men robbed an Internet café and tied its attendant before fleeing with P30,000 cash early morning yesterday in Santa Lucia Cabankalan II, barangay Bulacao Pardo, Cebu City.

Eugene Kilabkilab, 17, a native of Negros Oriental, was seen by his employer inside the dark Internet café with his hands tied with a rope.

The owner of the establishment, Rommie Kana, 39, resident of sitio Ilang-ilang, barangay Lagtang, Talisay City, reported the incident to the police around 4 a.m. yesterday shortly after he learned about the incident.

Kana said he was prompted to go to the establishment when Kilabkilab failed to answer his calls around 3 a.m. to check his business.

Kilabkilab narrated that prior to the incident, the five men knocked on the door and pretended to be customers. But after he opened the door, one of the men suddenly poked a gun of undetermined caliber at his neck.

He added that the robbers then tied his hands and immediately destroyed the computer units, took all the coins amounting to over P30,000, including a remittance cash of P1,300, and a Nokia brand of cellular phone, before fleeing.

Kilabkilab said he heard a sound of a motorcycle, which he believed to be used by the suspects as their getaway vehicle.

PO3 Edmund Tiempo of Pardo Police Station surmised the robbers might be just residents of the area as it known to be a robbers’ den.

Tiempo said that the robbers may have monitored the operations of the Internet café. —Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
