DOH to evaluate CCMC

CEBU, Philippines - A team from the Department of Health is set to make a “technical visit” to the Cebu City Medical Center in answer to the request of the city for DOH to help shape up the hospital.

Acting Mayor Michael Rama said DOH Secretary Francisco Duque assured he will send a team to CCMC.

“They will look and evaluate, not necessarily on equipment but more on the personal area of concern…in the laboratory, there may be not enough graduates of medtech, then also in the OPD, we have certain ideals,” Rama said.

No less than former DOH Undersecretary Margarita Galon would reportedly head the team.Mayor-on-leave Tomas Osmeña has since criticized CCMC for its management problems and even suggested to put the city-owned hospital on sale.

Rama, for his part, remained positive that operations of the hospital can still be improved but still CCMC officials until this month to implement improvements, especially on its services.

The City Council is also looking at adding more funds for CCMC’s rehabilitation, which may be taken from the city’s calamity fund.The council has allocated P2.1 million for CCMC this year. — Ferliza C. Contratista/JMO   (THE FREEMAN)
