Two men shoot PUJ dispatcher

CEBU - A jeepney dispatcher is now in critical condition after two unidentified men fired at him using unidentified caliber of firearm in front of a business establishment located at the corner of Leon Kilat and Colon Streets yesterday afternoon.

A report from the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office identified the victim as Jake Arevallo, 27, single and resident of 16 Rizal Avenue, Tabada Mambaling, Cebu City.

The victim has allegedly been acting as dispatcher of jeepneys in downtown area since three days ago.

Police investigation revealed that Arevallo was about to cross the road when two unidentified men who were riding a bicycle shot the victim without any apparent reason.

The bullet pierced Arevallo’s left forehead and exited through the back of his head.

Concerned citizens rushed the victim to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment while the assailants fled towards unknown direction.

Police said they are still conducting follow-up investigation to determine the motive for the shooting and to identify the suspects. — Johanna Natavio/WAB   (THE FREEMAN)
