CCPO takes Rama's challenge to do better

Cebu City Police Office director Patrocinio Comendador yesterday said they are taking as challenge the statement of acting mayor Michael Rama telling them to work harder to solve the controversial killings in the city.

Rama said he admired the elements of Mandaue City Police Office in quickly solving the sensational killings of a call center supervisor and a factory worker that happened in January.

With this, the acting mayor challenged the police in Cebu City to work hard to solve the killings in the city, including the murder of assistant city prosecutor Patrick Osorio, who was shot and killed by still unidentified men while driving his vehicle in barangay Mambaling on his way home last January 6.

However, Comendador said they treated every case as unique. He explained that in every case, “if you close to the victim it is easier to solve, but when you’re far from the victim it is more difficult to solve.”

“Kung ikaw professional na magkaanam gyud ka ug kalayo sa pagtira sa imong biktima,” he added.

Comendador said they are just performing their job in a slowly but surely manner and they respect the statement of Rama as long as they are doing their best in their job. “Dili lang sila magpadala sa pressure para masolbad gyud ang kaso,” the police official said.

Comendador said yesterday that they are on the process of scrutinizing and trying to determine the link of the names of four people in the case of fiscal Osorio.

For his part, acting vice mayor Hilario Davide III, head of the Police Coordinating and Advisory Council, defended the CCPO saying they should be given the chance to try their best to solve the case.

But a Cebu City police investigator said: “Paswerte-swerte ra man god ning pag-imbestigar. Kun walay makatug-an maglisud g’yod ang mga imbestigador pagsulbad sa mga krimen. Mahinung-danon g’yod ang abag sa community.” — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/WAB   (THE FREEMAN)
