DDB awards officials for fight against drugs

-

CEBU – For the first time, Dangerous Drug Board has awarded three officials from different agencies for their successful fight against illegal drugs.

DDB Undersecretary Paul Clarence Oaminal has presented the medal of merit to Police Regional Office 7 director Ronald Roderos, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7 officer-in-charge Randy Pedrosa and Cebu City Prosecutor Nicolas Sellon.

The medal is the highest form of award given by DDB and is the first time that they awarded this to officials.

According to Oaminal, the medal of merit is given to the three officials “who continuously display an immeasurable sacrifice on the campaign against drugs.”

“This is still the first set of awardees and we hope that this would encourage other officials to strengthen their fight against drugs,” Oaminal said, adding it is part of their plans in accomplishing their goal of having a drug-free Philippines.

Meanwhile, a total of 252 police officers from Cebu, Negros Oriental, Siquijor and Bohol were promoted to higher ranks yesterday.

Roderos headed the pinning of ranks to the police officers at his office at the Camp Sergio Osmeña.

“It is not easy for an officer to be promoted since he should prove first that he is determined and disciplined,” he said.

According to Roderos, the promotion should serve as a challenge for the officers to take the bigger responsibility in their service and the newly promoted officers should also serve as examples to others who also wish for a promotion.

An officer should show his loyalty and dedication to the service and to the people, he added. —AJ de la Torre and Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
