Church leaders to discuss Cha-cha

CEBU – Leaders of churches in Cebu will be taking part in discussions regarding the Charter change in a forum dubbed “The Church People’s Response to Charter Change and Human Rights Situation”.

Bishop Ebenezer Camino of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines, Bishop Filomeno Ang of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente, Hadji Nashier Ismael, former head of the Metro Cebu Muslim Peace and Order Council, and Jesus is Lord pastor Carlos Moncada will share the point of view of their respective churches on the issue.

Human rights lawyers Democrito Barcenas and Alfonso Cinco IV will be giving updates on Charter change and human rights situations.

The forum, spearheaded by the Promotion of Church People’s Response, will take place as the House of Representatives resumes deliberations this week on proposals to amend the 1987 Philippine Constitution. The public is invited to join in the forum tomorrow at the Redemptorist Parish Church conference room from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. — AJ de la Torre/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
