Oval to be repaired within the year
CEBU – The damaged rubberized track of the Cebu City Sports Center is expected to be rehabilitated this year.
City Councilor Edgardo Labella has already filed a resolution asking the CCSC management board to conduct a profile study and evaluation on how to rehabilitate the damaged rubberized oval and submit it to them.
He said the 14-year-old sports center should be quickly rehabilitated because it is the only sports facility here big enough to cater to numerous sporting, social and even religious activities.
Labella said the rubberized oval of the said complex is also being used daily by joggers and walkers.
“In other words, the said sports facility has not only become an institution to develop athletes, but also an important and necessary element for good health among our constituents,” he added.
The councilor explained that the damaged rubberized oval should be rehabilitated to prevent any accidents.
“Kuyaw lagi kay daghan na nga bahin sa oval ang nahulpa. Ang ubang bahin sa oval kon imong tamakan mopilit sa sapatos ang guma,” one jogger at the sports center told The FREEMAN yesterday.
Labella said the uneven surface of the rubberized oval cause danger, particularly to elderly patrons.
