Talisay fisherman missing

-

Cebu - A motorboat filled with fish was found floating in the seas of the southern town of San Fernando evening yesterday but its owner, a resident of Talisay City, remains missing.

Fishermen Gregorio Quirante and Romulo Pidad first saw the motorboat floating off the coast of San Fernando 7pm last Wednesday without any person on board. They again saw the boat around 1am Thursday and decided to pull it back to shore.

They reported the find to the San Fernando police in the morning. Police found four kilos of fish inside the boat and a residence certificate bearing the name Leonardo Abarquez.Yesterday, a certain Ernesto Abapo, who introduced himself as Abarquez’ father-in-law, went to the San Fernando police to claim the motorboat.

Abapo said he learned of the recovery of the motorboat through the radio. Abapo told the police Abarquez reportedly went to Bohol to fish.Authorities are now determining the whereabouts of Abarquez. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
