CEBU - If Cebu Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. is to be asked, the Provincial Board and its different committees did an excellent job last year.
Sanchez said this can be seen from the significant ordinances, resolutions and committee reports sponsored and passed by the PB members in 2008 as well as financial assistance for development projects in the different towns.
The PB passed and approved 4,953 resolutions, 68 ordinances and 806 committee reports, according to the records of the PB secretariat.
Of the 68 ordinances, 14 were authored by PB member Juan Bolo, one of them declared March 26 as Liberation Day for entire Province of Cebu and another approved the 2008 Revenue Tax Code of Cebu Province.
Bolo is head of the Committee on Provincial and Municipal Properties and Education.
Board member Wenceslao Gakit has the most number of disposed committee reports. He heads the Committee on Budget and Finance.
“All of them are doing an excellent job,” Sanchez said.
He cited with special mention board members Agnes Magpale of the Committee on Tourism, Women, Children and Family, Victor Maambong of the Committee on Environment and Peter John Calderon of the Committee on Laws.
The secretariat records also showed that the provincial board spent P91,887,626 last year. The amount covers community development outreach project worth P12,017,092; economic development worth P11,142,840; social services worth P8,473,550; infrastructure development worth P35,745,144; sports, arts and culture worth P21,241,500 and peace and order at P3,267,5000.
Each board members has P5 million each as local development assistance funds while Sanchez has P10 million.
In terms of absences, board member Ian Ceasar Zambo incurred the most number of absences with six. He also had six days of official business leave, four days of official leave and one day of sick leave.
Board member Victoria Corominas came second with three absences, seven days of official business leave, five days of official leave and four sick leaves.
PB ex-officio member Bea Mercede Calderon was absent for two days and had seven days of official leave and two sick leaves.
Board Member Alfred Ouano had one absence, seven days of official leave and two sick leaves.
Sanchez had one day official business leave and one sick leave.
