Visayanian staffers reunion today

-

CEBU - All former staff members of The Visayanian, the official student publication of the University of the Visayas, are being called to attend a reunion today, Friday, January 16, at 11 a.m. at the Ecotech Center in Lahug.

From The Visayanian sprung many of today’s most successful local journalists, such as lawyer-columnists Frank Malilong, Elias Espinoza and Eddie Barrita.

The editors-in-chief of two of Cebu’s three English language daily newspapers are in fact former Visayanians — Pachico Seares of SunStar Cebu and Jerry Tundag of The Freeman.

Other Visayanians moved on to become successful in other chosen fields, especially in the judiciary and the legal profession, such as Judges Benjamin Cobarde and Romulo Senining, and in education such as former regional directors Eladio Dioko and Susana Cabahug.

Expected to attend this year’s reunion are former Visayanians Cerge Remonde, the director general of the Presidential Management Staff, and Court of Appeals Senior Justice Portia Alino Hormachuelos.

Rep. Eduardo Gullas is also a member of the group. (THE FREEMAN)
