CEBU - A magnitude 4.5 earthquake hit Anda town of Bohol at around 11:37 a.m. yesterday and it was registered as an intensity 2 quake in Cebu City.
The Department of National Defense-Office of Civil Defense Regional Center-7 said that the earthquake was felt within the municipalities of Anda, Jagna, Guindulman. Loay, Garcia-Hernandez, Candijay, Duero, and Valencia all in Bohol.
The quake registered as intensity 3 at Hibok-Hibok, intensity 2 in Jagna, Bohol and intensity 1 in Dumaguete City and Tagbilaran City.
The report was received past 3 p.m. yesterday by Director Minda Morante, executive officer of OCD-7 from Engr. Ver Neil Balaba, DND-OCD Bohol.
No damages, casualties, and aftershocks were immediately reported, and no tsunami warning was issued.
In a phone interview yesterday with Rolando Montañez, Reserved Specialist 1 of Philippine Institute of Volcanology-7, he reported that the tectonic earthquake was 25 kilometers in depth and located 27 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Anda.
The municipality of Anda is 99.3 kilometers southeast of Tagbilaran City.
The Philippine archipelago lies along the so-called Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where earthquakes and volcanic activities are common.
