NBI probe into lechon dealer's killing sought

Cebu - The family of the lechon dealer murdered last New Year’s Eve because of alleged business rivalry wants the National Bureau of Investigation to conduct a parallel probe to determine the possible involvement of a policeman in the crime.

Lawyer Inocencio dela Cerna, counsel for the family of the victim, said that they will be asking the NBI to investigate the possible involvement of Police Office 3 Kent Yngayo in the murder of Methusael Inesola.

Yngayo, who is assigned at the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force, allegedly hid two of the three suspects.

In fact, two of the alleged gunmen, Diosdado Ortega and Jackie Trazona, were arrested by the responding policemen inside Yngayo’s house few meters away from the place of the victim.

But, Yngayo was not included in the murder and frustrated murder complaints filed by the Homicide Police before the prosecutors office because of lack of evidence that would link him to the crime.

Yngayo, however, is facing complaints for illegal possession of firearms and for obstruction of justice.

The police had already filed murder and frustrated murder complaints against Ortega and Trazona, including Yuli Ramas who had eluded arrest.

De la Cerna said they would have wanted to include Yngayo in the murder and frustrated murder complaints but they still don’t have sufficient evidence.

Through the NBI, de la Cerna is hopeful that they will be able to include him in the case.

Lechon dealer Inesola was killed last December 31 in the evening in barangay Lahug. A customer, Lerio Abadiez, was injured during the shooting incident.
