Man shot dead in Toledo City

CEBU - A man who just came from a cockpit arena was shot to death by unknown assailant in sitio Silingan, barangay Cantabaco, Toledo City at around 11:00 a.m. yesterday.

Police identified the victim as Jaime Larong Jr., alias “Okdoy,” 42, a resident of barangay Das, Toledo City.

Initial investigation conducted by the Toledo City police revealed that while the victim was driving his motorcycle on his way home, an unidentified man, who was allegedly waiting for the victim to pass by, suddenly pulled out a firearm and shot him several times at close range.

Upon confirming that Larong was already dead, the assailant immediately left the place, leaving the victim lying facing down bathed in his own blood. The responding police officers recovered from the crime scene nine empty shells and three slugs of .45 caliber pistol.

The cadaver of the victim was brought to Maria Hard Funeral Hospital for a post mortem examination while police are still conducting follow-up investigation to identify the assailant. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
