Grandpa, boy, die in Bohol flooding

CEBU - The fatalities were identified as Ebaristo “Titing” Ramos, 74, and his grandson Harold Ramos.

Both were inside their house at the riverbank when floods swept it away.

Flooding and landslides also occurred in some areas in the municipality of Tubigon, Bohol but fortunately no casualty was reported. 

Clarin Municipal Councilor Isidro Arcales told the Freeman that the incident happened at around 4 o’clock dawn while the two were asleep. Overflowing water from Candajit River washed away the residence of the victims located at Poblacion Centro.

Arcales said that rain started pouring in Clarin Tuesday evening. Other barangays in Clarin affected by flooding are Poblacion Norte, Poblacion Centro, Bon-bon, Tangaran and Bacani.

The Regional Disaster Coordinating Council Central Visayas (RDCC-7), however, said that as of yesterday afternoon the floods have subsided.

Another house owned by certain Serapio Miano, which is also located near the riverbank, was washed out by flood.

Fortunately, there had been no reports of casualty from the family of Miano.

RDCC-7 also received reports of damages to some trees and crops.

In Tubigon, the areas affected by flooding were barangays Macaas, Poblacion Centro, Sitio Ingod of barangay Tinangnan and Bataria. 

RDCC-7 reported that the flood was waist deep in the morning but had already subsided as of press time.

Municipal Disaster Council of Tubigon reported that some areas experienced minor landslides due to heavy rains. These were barangay Tinangnan, Bosongon and Ubujan.

RDCC-7 has dispatched quick response team to the affected municipalities and conducted immediate survey on the extent of damage while MDCC-Tubigon has used their cultural center as evacuation area. — Jessica Ann R. Pareja/NLQ   (THE FREEMAN)
