Teenager shoots self while playing with gun

CEBU – A teenager who was trying to impress his girlfriend by showing her he had a gun accidentally shot himself in the left hand and foot in her house in sitio Kamalig Bato, barangay Taboc, Danao City, last Sunday evening.

The victim was identified as Alejandro Tria, 19, a student and a resident of barangay Licos, Danao City.

SPO2 Ramir Olevario of the Danao police said the victim went to the house of his girlfriend to show her his gun and started playing with it.

Eventually the gun slipped from his grasp, fell to the floor and went off, hitting him in the left hand and left foot as he tried to pick it up. His girlfriend immediately asked for help from their neighbors and called the police.

The victim was rushed to the Danao City District Hospital but was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
