9 injured as police patrol car crashes

CEBU – Nine people were hurt when a Moalboal police patrol jeep crashed after losing its brakes in barangay Guadalupe, Carcar City while it was on its way back from Cebu City past 2 p.m. last Friday afternoon.

PO1s Fortunato Mamac, Eric Dongdong and Jovito Rosales were escorting inmates Rommel Castillo and Frankie Delicano back from a hearing in Cebu City when the patrol jeep bearing plate no. SHF-475 lost its brakes and zigzagged on the road before crashing.

Also in the vehicle were relatives of the inmates Wilfredo Delicano, Santiago Delicano, Remegios Gabotero and Bienvenido Bulang.

PO1 Edarth Dahili of the Carcar police said the injured were immediately rushed to the Carcar City District Hospital but Rosales, Bulang and Santiago Delicano were later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City due to major injuries.

Castillo and Frankie Delicano were temporarily detained at the Carcar City police station after the accident and transferred to the custody of the Moalboal police yesterday.

“Naghimo ug initial nga investigation ang kapulisan sa Carcar pero posible nga subject pa gyud ni sa investigation ang mga pulis kung purely accident lang ba gyud to ang nahitabo,” Dahili said. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
