7 hurt as mini-bus hits parked truck

CEBU - A mini-bus driver and his six passengers were rushed to the hospital after their vehicle hit a 10-wheeler truck parked beside the national highway in barangay Dawis, Carmen town before dawn yesterday.

SPO2 Simplicio Gibo of the Carmen Police Station said the mini-bus with plate number GWE-511 driven by Ronnie Hingco, 30, of sitio Badian, barangay Cabuboan, Tabogon town, was heading to Cebu City when it hit a truck filled with sugarcane that was parked along the road.

Hingco broke his right leg while his passengers Rick Lumbab, 28; Rodulfo Brandares, 53; and Leo Brandares, 50; Jassy Halpon, eight; Polemar Semblasenio, 50; and his daughter Jessica, eight, also sustained injuries and were taken to the Danao City District Hospital.

Hingco said after the accident that he did not see the truck because it was parked in the dark.
