"Mag-uuling" shot dead in Dumanjug

CEBU - A man tending a pit where wood is being burned to produce charcoal was shot to death by an unidentified assailant in barangay Tubod-duguan, Dumanjug last Sunday at around 10 p.m.

PO1 Christopher Baro of the Dumanjug Police Station told The FREEMAN that the victim, identified as Ceferino Zozobrado, 32, married, and a resident of the said place, was out to “put the fire on low in the charcoal pit” located few meters away from his house when he was shot.

The victim was hit in his right chest by a weapon of unknown caliber.Zozobrado’s wife failed to identify the assailant, but said the man was in black jacket and was wearing a black cap.

Responding Dumanjug policemen, SPO1 Florencio Clarion and SPO1 Julianito Mulijon, conducted further investigation to identify the perpetrator.

Meanwhile, another man was shot dead by an unknown assailant over the weekend in barangay Lawin, Argao at around 7 p.m.

The victim was identified as Lebet Padigos, a resident of Can-aga, Sibonga.

PO1 Benjamin Gerosaga of the Argao Police Station said that the victim went there because he was invited to a fiesta celebration, particularly at the residence of lawyer Veronico Sardoncillo.

He was outside of Sardoncillo’s residence when he was shot in the face by an unknown gunman.

The victim was rushed to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
