CEBU - The Philippine Navy said there will be no investigation in the truck crash in Balamban town last Saturday morning that left 16 people injured.
The truck was carrying volunteers to a dental mission in barangay Poblacion, Tuburan town, sponsored by Vice Governor Greg Sanchez together with the Central Command.
Public information officer Ensign Maria Christine Aurellano yesterday said only five of the 16 injured after an M-35 truck of Philippine Navy fell down a cliff are still confined in the hospital.
She said four volunteers are still confined at the Chong Hua Hospital and one more is in the Central Command Hospital for treatment of the injuries they sustained during the incident.
She declined to divulge their names for security reasons.
She told The FREEMAN that there will be no further investigation into the incident because they believe that it was purely accidental.
According to reports, the driver, FN1 Rolan Dominic Enriquez, was passing the area when he lost his brakes and immediately alerted his passengers he was about to lose control.
Some of them managed to get into crash positions before the truck went over the edge of the cliff.
The truck rolled down 100 feet before a rock standing in the path stopped it from going further.
Those injured were immediately rescued and brought to hospitals for treatment.
Aurellano added another team replaced them for that particular mission.
