Cop slays brother-in-law over "chicken" comment

-

CEBU – A policeman shot his brother-in-law dead after the latter teased him for allegedly being a coward and gay last Friday along N. Bacalso Avenue, barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City.

PO1 Jose Dennis Malazarte, 41, of the Cebu Provincial Police Office and detailed at the South Bus Terminal, will be facing criminal charges for shooting Bienvenido Alforfon, 36.

Investigation revealed that Alforfon was drinking beer with two of his friends at a store when Malazarte arrived and sat nearby to drink alone.

Minutes later, the victim’s friends left and he struck a conversation with the suspect.

Malazarte alleged that Alforfon, already drunk, told him to order jeepney dispatchers in the area to stop their illegal business.

Store cashier Janice Palis and attendant Minerva Pillare said they heard the suspect telling the victim: “Ayaw pag-gara-gara diha kay imo ni’ng lugar.”

They also told policemen that Alforfon countered: “Talawan ka. Bayot ka” against the suspect who is a resident of barangay San Antonio, Cebu City.

Malazarte got angry and pulled out his gun then shot the victim several times, hitting him in the left side of his chest, neck and back.

The policeman later surrendered to PO2 Remos Goco of the Mobile Patrol Group and turned over his .38 cal. revolver which still had two live rounds in the barrel.

The body of the victim was taken to the St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
