Woman shot dead in barangay Pit-os

CEBU - A 45-year-old woman was shot dead in the head Monday night in her house in barangay Pit-os while she was tending to the family business.

The assailants managed to flee but homicide police yesterday invited Sanito Narbuada, 39, and Nicolas Estor, 32, for questioning and for a paraffin test.

Both are neighbors of victim Rosalie Codilla. Estor was pointed to as suspect after he allegedly stabbed Codilla’s son Jefferson last November 14.

Codilla’s husband, Ronnie, 45, was also made to undergo a paraffin test after Narbuada and Estor said he owns a gun.

Ronnie told the police his wife was making barbeque sticks in their sala when gunfire broke the silence past 8pm. There and then, Rosalie fell on the floor bloodied.

Rosalie was rushed to the Cebu North General Hospital but she eventually died shortly before 11pm.

Codilla’s son, Reth, was the one who reportedly saw two men running away from their house to a dark alley shortly after the shot was fired.

Although admitting that they have a grudge against the victim, Narbuada and Estor denied any involvement in the shooting, saying they were already asleep when the incident happened.

They said it is not only them that have a grudge on the victim but their other neighbors as well because of the foul odor being caused by the waste from the pigs Codilla is raising.

Both even alleged that it was Ronnie who threatened them with his gun before. The houses and Narbuada and Estor are located just beside the Codillas’.

Homicide police chief Mario Monilar said they are not discounting the possibility that if Ronnie indeed has a gun, he could have accidentally shot his wife. – Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
