High school students in Toledo caught with gun, live bullets

CEBU - Criminal charges are expected to be filed today against two students of Luray National High School in Toledo City who were caught with a firearm and live ammunition Friday last week.

Tanods Ruben Dayrit and Felipe Espirito of barangay Luray II placed Jaims Brian Manabut, 19, of Cabangkalan, Toledo and his 15-year-old companion of barangay Poblacion under arrest after the security guard of Luray National High School, Jorlie Linihan, reported that he saw the two students carrying a gun.

The tanods seized the .38 caliber firearm from Manabut while the 15-year-old companion handed over the five live bullets only during a subsequent confrontation with the school principal at the latter’s office.

The students said they reportedly just found the gun and bullets on the road on their way to school earlier that day.

The two are now under the custody of the Toledo police pending the filing of appropriate charges. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
