CEBU - Another case has been added to the string of criminal cases that Joavan Fernandez, son of Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez, are already facing before the different courts after the Talisay City Prosecutors' Office indicted him of the complaint for robbery filed by the owner of a vulcanizing shop in Tabunok.
Talisay City Prosecutor Marshall Rubia approved the recommendation to file the case for robbery in court against the younger where the latter was ordered to pay P100,000 bail.
Joavan, who is now detained at the Talisay City Jail on charges of serious illegal detention filed by cousins Osbert and Winston Abellana, was accused of allegedly stealing a television set and DVD player from the vulcanizing shop owned by Merceditha Abellana in the dawn of August 9.
Associate prosecution attorney Floralil Albert found probable cause to hold Joavan for trial despite the latter's denial.
Merceditha said that Joavan arrived at her house in Sitio Kimba, Barangay Cansojong at 2:30 a.m. of August 9 angrily confronted her of a missing tire owned by his father, Mayor Socrates Fernandez, which was left in her shop for patching.
According to Merceditha, Joavan was asking for payment of the lost tire but she allegedly did not have money prompting her to promise to give the payment as soon as she is able to obtain a loan.
However, Joavan allegedly left taking with him her nephew, Osbert, to the vulcanizing shop where the accused forcibly took the appliances worth P14,000. – Fred P. Languido/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
