Daanbantayan barangays get pump boats, multicabs

-

CEBU - All mainland barangays of Daanbantayan received multicabs while the island barangays of the town received pump boats from Cebu fourth district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon.

The distribution and formal turnover were held last Thursday in front of the municipal hall in a ceremony attended by Salimbangon, Mayor Sun Shimura, Vice Mayor Maria Luisa Loot and other municipal and barangay officials.

Eighteen barangays received one multicab each and the island barangays of Carnaza and Logon —also known as Malapascua Island— got one pump boat each.

Each barangay signed a memorandum of agreement with Salimbangon, agreeing to shoulder the allowance of the driver, the fuel and the maintenance of the vehicles.

The vehicle must be available to the residents of the barangay especially in cases of emergency but otherwise must be used for official business only.

However, Loot said those vehicles that will not be received barangay captains belonging to the opposition camp will be taken care of by the municipal government but will still be available for use by the barangay concerned through the barangay councilmen allied with them.

Each multicab is worth P120,000 while each pump boat is worth P200,000.

During the occasion, Salimbangon also distributed 30 coupons worth P10,000 to each of the 30 scholars enrolled at the Technical and Educational Skills Development Authority provincial training center in Daanbantayan.

Also distributed were the P3,000 in checks as burial assistance to 37 families. — Gregg M. Rubio/BRP  (THE FREEMAN)
