Minor hurt by girl's ex
CEBU – A 17-year-old is now in critical condition after being stabbed several times by the ex-boyfriend of his girlfriend past 7 p.m. in barangay Ermita, last Saturday.
The victim said he was walking with his girlfriend Apple Genevier Ostia, 19, at Warwick Barracks in barangay Ermita when the suspect, Jeffrey Banticil, 18, suddenly appeared from behind them and stabbed him in the back.
However, he and his girlfriend still managed to run, hail a taxi, and evade the suspect. Police theorized the victim and his girlfriend might have been panicking at that time because they told the taxi to bring them to the Talisay District Hospital despite the many hospitals here in Cebu City.
The victim was later transferred to the Cebu City Medical Center.
Members of the barangay Ermita Task Force later arrested Banticil and recovered the seven-inch ice pick he used to stab the victim.
SPO2 Rey Cuyos Homicide Section said jealousy is said to be the motive of the stabbing, considering that Banticil was Ostia’s ex-boyfriend. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
