Housing program for Mandaue urban poor gets P1.5M

CEBU – Urban poor groups in Mandaue City received P1.5 million as initial financial assistance for their socialized housing program.

Cebu 6th District Rep. Nerissa Soon-Ruiz, through the Cebu provincial government, allocated the assistance from her Priority Development Assistance Fund as trust fund to the Consultancy Assembly of Mandaue City’s Neighborhood Association, Inc. (CAMANO, Inc.).

Governor Gwen Garcia, Rep. Soon-Ruiz and CAMANO Inc. president Gaudencio Daniel, signed the memorandum of agreement during the turnover ceremonies last November 4.

CAMANO Inc. is the umbrella organization of 62 urban poor organizations in Mandaue City located in barangays Cabancalan, Jagobiao, Casili, Paknaan and Canduman.

“Kining grupoha naningkamot gyud nga makabaton og ilang kaugalingong yuta aron aduna silay siguridad sa ilang pagpuyo,” the congresswoman said.

The financial assistance is part of the interim bridge financing of the Community Mortgage Program for CAMANO which have pending applications with Social Housing Program Corporation, a government corporation catering to socialized housing projects.

“Nalipay ko nga nidawat ug nisugot si Gov. Garcia nga gamiton ang kapitolyo, nga nahimong conduit ang probinsiya sa Sugbo, kay mutabang sad sila pagbantay ug pagtan-aw sa maong kantidad nga atong gidunol sa CAMANO,” the congresswoman added.

The fund assistance will run for two and a half years and is subject to adjustments upon written request from CAMANO Inc. and approval from the Cebu provincial government. — Garry B. Lao/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
