Man who forced couple to have sex lands in jail

CEBU - A 25-year-old man is facing criminal charges for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman when her 18-year-old boyfriend failed to “perform” a sexual act with her, which the suspect forced them to do at knifepoint.

The rape victim told authorities that Fredy Sanchez alias “Potpot” has been courting her but she reportedly rejected him several times.

The incident happened in barangay Catarman, Liloan town early dawn Sunday.

The couple said they were walking home from a Halloween dance in sitio Dapdap when they first noticed someone following them.

When they reached a dark and secluded area, Sanchez reportedly appeared from nowhere and pointed a knife at them.

Sanchez then allegedly pointed them to go to a grassy area, ordered them to take off their clothes, and forced them to have sex while he watched. The couple said they were forced to obey for fear of their lives.

However, Sanchez reportedly got irked when the boyfriend failed to “perform” and, with the knife still aimed at the two, ordered the latter to step aside so he could take his place.

When Sanchez did so, the boyfriend took the chance to run to call for help even with only his underwear on.

Sanchez was already gone when the boyfriend returned but the suspect allegedly successfully raped his girlfriend. A medical examination conducted on the woman also showed she was indeed raped.

Barely two hours later, Sanchez was arrested in a hot pursuit operation conducted by the Liloan police. He is now detained at the Liloan Police Station.

A complaint for rape has already been filed against Sanchez but authorities are still contemplating the proper charges to be filed against him for intimidating and harassing the boyfriend. - Ferliza C. Contratista/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
