1 dead, two injured in 2 road accidents

-

CEBU - Two road accidents in Naga City left one dead and two others in critical condition on All Souls Day.

The first incident happened in barangay Taloot when the motorcycles driven by Rizal Tan, 22, and Julius Amasa, 28, rammed into each other.

Investigation revealed that Tan was intoxicated when he was driving his Honda Wave 100 from Argao. Witnesses say that when he reached barangay Taloot, his vehicle was already swerving and that it was just a matter of time before it went to the opposite lane and rammed into Amasa’s Yamaha DT 125. Amasa was driving from Simala in Sibonga town.

The impact badly damaged both motorcycles and threw the two men off to the cemented road. Tan reportedly suffered more injuries, as he was not wearing a helmet at that time.

Both men are being treated at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Evening that day, a still unidentified vehicle ran over Alfred Callet, 20, a native of Tayasan town in Oriental Negros in barangay Inayagan.

PO2 Miguel Castañares, duty desk officer of the Naga City Police Station, said Callet was found bloodied and lifeless in the middle of the national highway past 9pm in barangay Inayagan. Callet works at Bernadeth Lechon Manok in Minglanilla town.

Initial reports had it that the four-wheel vehicle was speeding towards San Fernando town when the incident happened.

The Naga police immediately alerted the San Fernando Police Station in the hope of identifying the suspected vehicle but to no avail. – Ferliza C. Contratista/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
