CEBU – A shell craft canvasser was shot dead by an unidentified person who barged into his niece’s house at Highway 77, barangay Talamban, Cebu City at around 8 p.m. last Friday.
Florencio Napoles, 45, sustained gunshot wounds to the left portion of his body and was declared dead on arrival at the North General Hospital.
Alicia Napoles, wife of the victim, alleged that she was with her husband and mother, Divina, when the shooting happened.
Alicia said they were inside the kitchen of her niece’s house when they heard two bursts of gunfire and they were shocked when they saw Florencio fell down from the chair while bleeding.
This prompted Alicia to shout for help and when she peeped through the bamboo wall of the house, she saw the unidentified assailant fleeing by passing at the nearby subdivision’s fence.
Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section chief Mario Monilar said that the motive of the killing points to personal grudge of the suspect towards the victim.
Monilar said that the wife of the victim, Alicia, possibly knows the assailant but might be withholding any information because of fear.
He theorized that the assailant was possibly using a revolver because there were no empty shells recovered from the crime scene. – Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
