Man stabs sister in Moalboal for illicit affair

CEBU - A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night in Moalboal town after he stabbed her older sister whom he suspected of having an illicit affair.

Even the barangay tanod who tried to stop him also ended up wounded.  

Investigation by the Moalboal police revealed that Ramil Sambilad reportedly started acting strange when he heard rumors that his older sister, Rodielyn Ibo, 25, has an affair with another man.

Last Tuesday night, a drunk Sambilad suddenly attacked his own sister with a hunting knife when he met her buying something from a store.

Ibo was hit at her upper back, which prompted her to run towards a cooperative store. Sambilad still followed her and stabbed her the second time on her lower back.

Barangay tanod Antonio Ironido who was on duty at that time saw what happened and requested Sambilad to stop.

But instead of heeding the tanod’s request, Sambilad turned his anger towards Ironido and stabbed the latter on the shoulder.   Ironido then ran and sought help from barangay captain Sabini Infante who was able to pacify Sambilad and subsequently place him under arrest.

Ibo and Ironido are currently being treated at Moalboal District Hospital. Ibo intends to file a case against her brother. — Ferliza C. Contratista/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
