Man who "killed" daughter's lesbian lover surrenders

CEBU - After a week of hiding from authorities, a man accused of killing the lesbian lover of his daughter last Wednesday evening in sitio Cansagiring, barangay Baring, Carmen town surrendered to the police yesterday morning.

Arsolito Abayon, 43, and resident of the said place voluntarily surrendered himself to the police around 7:20 a.m. yesterday. 

Abayon, a factory worker, is accused of stabbing dead his co-worker Marilyn Fernandez, 29, who is also the lesbian lover of his daughter Geralyn.

Insp. Carlos Reyes of the Carmen Police Station said that the suspect would have surrendered earlier but claimed he was afraid the relatives of the victim would hurt his family after he was in jail.

The suspect further said he is not repentant for killing the victim and said he always felt sorry for his daughter whenever she had a fight with her girlfriend.

He later told the victim to leave his daughter alone, but after she did not heed his warning he decided to kill her last Wednesday.

Fernandez just left the factory and was already on board a motorcycle together with other two co-workers when Abayon approached them and stabbed Fernandez in the left side of the neck. She later died. Reyes said a charge for murder has been filed against the suspect. – Niña Chrismae G.
