CEBU - Three barangays in Cebu City north district yesterday received patrol vehicles from the city government, as acting mayor Michael Rama challenged the barangay officials to be more active in fighting crime in their areas.
Rama and Councilor Augustus Pe personally turned over the patrol vehicles to barangays Pulangbato, Busay, and Pahina Central.
Busay and Pulangbato are both hinterland barangays in the city’s north district with the latter being very controversial because of sitio Dita, the so-called haven of illegal drug pushers and users in the barangay.
“Nalipay g’yod kaayo ko kay duna na g’yod mi’y patrol car. Ang mga silingan namo nga barangay dugay na man sila nga duna,” said Pulangbato barangay captain Maria Velasquez.
The vehicles provided to Busay and Pulangbato are more powerful than the one given to Pahina Central but Velasquez explained this is because Busay and Pulangbato are located in mountainous areas. – Rene U. Borromeo/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
