4 killed, 1 hurt in Sunday shootings
CEBU - At least four people were killed in separate shooting incidents in the province last Sunday.
In Medellin town, three masked men opened fire at people in a funeral wake in sitio Comon, barangay Daanglungsod, killing two and wounding another.
Police identified the fatalities as Inocencio Tundag, 38, of barangay Caputatan Norte and Juanito Venduran, 52, of the said barangay, who were hit in the head.
A certain Dodo Monenio, of barangay Antipolo, was reported injured.
PO1 Renato Nugas of the Medellin Police Station said that the men were playing card games outside of the house when the three unidentified assailants opened fire at them.
People scampered for safety, witnesses said. Monenio, who was among those fleeing the area, was hit.
Responding policemen recovered four empty shells of .9mm bullet from the crime scene.
Tundag and Venduran died instantly, while Monenio was rushed to the Verallo District Hospital, but was transferred to another hospital here in the city.
In another shooting incident, a 43-year-old poultry worker was killed after two motorcycle-riding men fired at the victim while the latter was also driving his motorcycle in sitio Combado, barangay Cantuod, Balamban town last Sunday evening.
Police identified the victim as Antonio Mahilom, 43, of barangay Immaculada who was with his co-worker identified as Marcel Herbito. The two were said to be on their way to the farm when the shooting happened.
According to PO1 Jose Baldicasa of the Balamban Police Station, Mahilom suffered several gunshot wounds to the head and body causing his instantaneous death, while Herbito was left unhurt.
Police have yet to determine the motive of the shooting, but they initially believed that it could be personal.
Meanwhile, a man was shot in the head by a still unidentified perpetrator, killing him on the spot, in barangay Napo, Carcar City the other day.
Abraham Alforque, 27, was on his way home after buying cigarette from a nearby store when an unidentified man approached him and shot him in the head.
