CIDG smells drugs in killing of 'asset'

CEBU - The regional office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group is conducting its own investigation into the death of its “asset” last Tuesday in barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City.

CIDG-7 deputy director Senior Supt. Juanito Enguerra, in yesterday’s press conference, said there is a big possibility that the killing of Mark “Macoy” Pulvera, 42, was drug-related.

The police official confirmed Pulvera has been an asset to the agency, saying he had joined several operations against illegal drugs.

“Tungod sa iyang mga tips daghan mga operations sa CIDG-7 nga nilampos ug gani karong adlawa dunay mi i-apply nga search warrant batok sa illegal nga drogas apan wala naman siya so dili na madayon,” Enguerra said.

Enguerra said they now have suspects in mind but are withholding their identities so as not to jeopardize further operations.

He added they are also waiting for the statement of Pulvera’s common-law wife which may be essential in their investigation.

CIDG will also give financial assistance to those left behind by Pulvera and to other assets who are hurt or killed in performance of their job.

Pulvera was arrested last month by CCPO for holding a firearm without license but he was released on bail just last October 8.
