PDEA "agent" falls for gun possession

-

CEBU – For bringing an unlicensed gun, a 36-year-old man who claimed to be an asset of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 was arrested during a checkpoint in barangay Bulacao, Cebu City, early morning yesterday.

Now detained at the Pardo Police Station is Jesus Sarin, married, a native of Sto. Rosario, Ormoc City, but presently residing in the said barangay.

Seized from Sarin’s possession was a .357 cal. revolver with four live rounds and an empty shell.

PO3 Richard Tagadian of the Pardo Police Station said Sarin was apprehended by their Miscellaneous Team that conducted a checkpoint early morning yesterday near the barangay hall.

Sarin was allegedly riding his Yamaha Krypton motorcycle from downtown and heading home when he was stopped by the police.

During inspection he allegedly tried to escape, forcing police to hold him down and frisk him. They later found the gun tucked into his pants.

During interrogation, Sarin showed an identification card and claimed to be an asset of PDEA but police doubted his claim when he failed to show the license of the firearm he was carrying.

The police also checked with the PDEA to verify the suspect’s claim but got negative outcome.

Authorities are now conducting a background check on the suspect to determine if he is involved in robberies perpetrated by men riding motorcycles in the city.

A charge for illegal possession of firearm is also being readied against him. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
