CEBU – A graduating college student was killed while three other persons were hurt in a stabbing and two shooting incidents in Cebu City early yesterday morning.

The first incident happened in barangay Parian around 12:30 a.m. where 24-year-old Junel Sumayang was shot dead by an unidentified man riding a gray car with plate number TEZ-835.

The assailant also shot at his companion Mizraim Olofernez Jr., 22, but missed.

Sumayang was a resident of Villa Aurora Compound, barangay Kasambagan while Olofernez lives along C. Borces St., barangay Mabolo, both are graduating nautical students at the University of the Visayas.

Police said both victims were coming home from a videoke bar when the car stopped beside them and the driver disembarked and suddenly shot at them.

Sumayang was hit in the right side of the chest and fell to the ground while Olofernez, unhurt, ran towards the boarding house of their friends Monreker Bernandino and Jason Ochea.

Sumayang was then rushed to Cebu City Medical Center but failed to arrive alive.

A witness later said he was with his friends and sister near the road when he heard the first gunshot. When he verified it, he heard the second gunshot and later saw the car heading to the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

Four hours later along Gorordo Ave., barangay Camputhaw, 34-year-old Ramil Bolo was shot and wounded by three youths on a blue Honda XRM motorcycle around 4 a.m. yesterday outside the victim’s house.

The victim said he was drinking with three friends beside the road when the three arrived and one of them shouted profanities at them.

The victim reprimanded them and they sped off but later returned and the second man riding pillion shot him with a handgun, hitting him in the lower left side of his abdomen.

The three were last seen heading toward the Ayala Access Road.

Bolo was then taken by companions to Perpetual Soccour Hospital for medical treatment.
