Four men injured in road accident
CEBU - Four construction workers landed in a hospital after the Isuzu Elf truck they were riding rammed the vehicle into a concrete wall of a beach resort in sitio Baha-baha, Poblacion, Argao town at 2:30 a.m. last Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Jacinto Baclaan, of legal age, a resident of barangay Tayud in Liloan town, and the driver of the Isuzu Elf; helpers Jason Birondo, of sitio Prenza, barangay Talaga in Argao; Pepito Galo, and Narciso Judaya, both from Tayud, Liloan, who are all of legal ages.
The truck is reportedly owned by the company they are employed with.
PO1 Benjamin Gerosaga of the Argao Police Station said that the victims were drinking in an eatery along Don Gil Street, Poblacion, Argao at around 11 p.m. prior to the incident.
After their drinking session, the construction workers boarded on the said vehicle reportedly to return to the bunkhouse project site in sitio Dala-as, Talaga but crashed into the perimeter fence of Sunshine Beach Club instead.
The victims were rushed to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. It was learned that the driver sustained bruises all over his body and that the other three were pinned down. But as of yesterday noon, all are reported to be safe.
During the investigation conducted by the police, the driver, who was allegedly drunk during that time, said he decided to head straight to the concrete wall to put the vehicle to a stop after noticing that the brakes had malfunctioned. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
