CEBU – A member of the Special Reaction Unit of the Cebu Provincial Police Office was arrested after he allegedly pointed his gun at a boy around 6 a.m. yesterday at Freedom Park, barangay Ermita, Cebu City.
PO1 Samuel Alvares, 30, and resident of barangay Ermita was disarmed of his .45 cal. pistol and brought to the Carbon Police Station, he was then taken to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was confirmed drunk.
Alvares is a member of the CPPO SRU and was also designated as a bodyguard of Capitol Consultant on security Byron Garcia.
According to the reports from the Carbon Police Station, Alvares was arrested by elements of Special Weapon and Tactics team of the Cebu City Police Office while the suspect was still holding his pistol, later found to contain five live rounds.
The police were called after Alvares allegedly pointed his gun at the boy identified as J-Boy Ibañez, 17, a resident of the said place.
The Freeman tried to get the side of Alvares but he was still asleep in the holding cell as of yesterday afternoon, he is set to face a charge for grave threats today. – Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot (THE FREEMAN)
