CEBU – A 12-year-old pupil is now in serious condition after being hit by a white pickup while she crosses the street in Bogo City yesterday morning.
PO1 Jerry de la Cruz, traffic investigator of Bogo City Police Office, said that the victim, Angelia Gulfan, resident of Canticson barangay Gairan and a student of Bogo City Central I Elementary School was hit by a white Toyota pickup driven by Mario Alimpus Jr. of barangay Guimbal, Compostela town at around 10:30 a.m.
The police said Gulfan just got out of the school gate and was crossing the street when she was suddenly hit by the speeding vehicle which she did not notice due to a parked multicab.
Alimpus allegedly tried to step on the brakes but failed to evade the victim who was dragged by the pickup, breaking her legs and wounding her face and head.
Gulfan was brought to Verallo Medical Center but was later on transferred to a hospital in Cebu City because of the severe injuries she sustained.
Alimpus voluntarily surrendered to the police.
