2 men fighting over woman hit student

CEBU - Two men who reportedly fought over a woman exchanged gunfire, but hit an innocent bystander instead in barangay Sawang Calero past midnight of Thursday.

According to SPO4 Alex Dacua, the suspects identified as Marino Tampus and Roel Bindoy, both residents of the place, met at the roadside near an Internet café where the victim, identified as Jogie Cabasan, was hanging out.

The two men had a heated argument over a woman who was previously the common-law wife of Bindoy but is now reportedly living in with Tampus.

Witnesses said that both men were armed, and that they had an exchange of fire when they were engaged in an altercation, hitting Cabasan in the process.

Cabasan, 20, is a student of the Don Carlos Gothong Memorial National High School along C. Padilla Street near the crime scene.

She was hanging out at an Internet café on Gines Street, sitio Tagutungan, barangay Sawang Calero when she was hit with a bullet in her right foot. — Ferliza C. Contratista/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
