Guard stabbed dead in Taboan

CEBU – A security guard was stabbed to death by unidentified assailants at 12:45 a.m. yesterday along B. Aranas Street, barangay Taboan, this city.

The victim was identified as Marlito Gelig, 37, a security guard of MISDA Security Agency, and a resident of Figueroa Street, barangay Taboan. The victim sustained fatal stab wounds to his buttock and to the left portion of his neck. His body was found sprawled on the ground near his post, outside of NS Marketing. 

According to the investigation, 48-year-old Marcela Novo, stay-in cook of the said establishment, narrated that she was inside her room at the second floor of NS Marketing when she heard a thud and a shout asking for help.

She then asked a certain Rosenie Cangas, 25, a stay-in worker, to help her contact the police and their employer, Winnie Ngosiok.

It was observed during investigation that the drawer of the cashier’s table was forcibly opened and that there was also an attempt to open the safety vault based on the damaged lock. Ngosiok, 32, resident of Forest Hills, Banawa, barangay Guadalupe confirmed that the burglars had taken P250 only.
