CEBU - The Philippine Tourism Authority has sought the help of Capitol to recover at least 200 hectares of its properties scattered in different areas in the province.
PTA General Manager Mark Lapid yesterday told Governor Gwendolyn Garcia that PTA would need to recover the properties to assess their status, as some of them are reportedly the subject of pending cases.
“We now have to settle the problems that started in 1983 kasi minana pa namin ito. We will try to figure out the problems kung sino may hawak at kung sino ang may documents,” Lapid told said.
The PTA properties totaling 243.4913 hectares include the Kang-Irag Golf Course, Mawmawan Development Project, Moalboal Property and Diving Area, Argao Airstrip, Dalaguete Public Beach, Argao Resort Development in Casay and Argao Resort Development in Argao.
“They know better than us kaya’t kailangan nang proper coordination dahil sila ang mas may alam,” Lapid said.
Garcia, for her part, said the province will cooperate with and even assist the PTA in recovering the lots.
“We will work together for efficient and speedy resolution of this issue of the most judicious, fair and equitable manner,” Garcia said, adding that they will come up with the best solution for the interest of PTA, the provincial government and to the people.
Garcia suggested that the PTA segregate the “problematic” parcels of lots from the non-problematic ones because “this way we can then plan our course of action.” — Garry B. Lao/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
