Student, farmer wounded in stabbing

-

CEBU – A student and a farmer are now in the hospital after they figured in separate stabbing incidents early morning yesterday in barangay Banilad and the mountain barangay of Sirao.

In Banilad Pete Fredrich Acedillo, 26, and his live-in partner Julie Ann Shaira Tan, 19, are now facing charges for stabbing Jessel Tipon-tipon, 19.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim and the suspects were drinking at the couple’s rented room at the Holy Family Village in barangay Banilad when the suspects allegedly conspired with each other to stab the victim.

Ironically, it was also the suspects who brought Tipon-tipon to the Vicente Gullas Medical Center after he sustained stab wounds to different parts of his body.

Tan was arrested while still in the hospital while Acedillo voluntarily surrendered much later.

Police recovered bloodstained plastic stool, a white undershirt, a white face towel, checkered pants, and bed sheets from the suspects’ room.

Also seized were an Acer laptop with webcam, a Nokia cellphone, kitchen knife with broken handle, a broken mug cap, and empty beer cans.

Meanwhile, the incident in Sirao involved 49-year-old farmer Catalino Bonghanoy who was allegedly stabbed by a certain Naldo Bontilao, also a farmer. Bontilao, a resident of barangay Taptap, reportedly fled immediately after the incident.

Bonghanoy said he was at a benefit disco with his nephews when Bontilao, allegedly drunk, allegedly confronted him and punched him without any provocation. Not contented, the suspect then pulled out a knife and stabbed him.

Bonghanoy said Bontilao tried to stab him more but his nephews were quick enough to drag him from the aim. Bonghanoy is now recuperating at the Visayas Community Hospital. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
